I believe children should be treated with respect and dignity.
I believe children should be nurtured and should be in
a creative learning environment.
As an adult it is my duty to provide these things and to treat each child as if they were my own.
I have been a in home child care professional since 1970. I started with one family and a year later when I decided to expand I became fully licensed (July 11, 1971). Over the years my child care has changed and continues to change in order to provide quality child care, stay current with the times, and continue to meet the needs of each individual child.
Over the years I have raised two children of my own. My oldest daughter is a part time assistant in our child care and also attends college full time studying business and Early Child Development. Our youngest daughter is a full time Nanny for a family in Elk Grove and works part time at another licensed child care.
I also have 3 grand children and needless to say they are the apple of our eye. The two oldest are both Honor students in Middle school and High school. The youngest is a character and can make anyone laugh. We?re sure he will follow the example the other two have set in school when he is old enough to attend.
My husband Ed, is a former truck driver. Due a bad back injury several years ago we decided it would be more beneficial to work with me in the Child Care full time. Ed is a great asset to our program and the parents and children all think he?s great. It gives the children both a male and female perspective in our program.
This has become a family ran business. We have earned many awards over the years and other accomplishments. It has been a privilege to have provided care for the children in our community all these years. We plan to continue care for a few years to come.
Education: In order to stay current with today?s standards I have become accredited through NAFCC 3 times and hold a current certificate of accreditation. I have also attended college and earned over 50 ECE units and graduated with Honors phi theta Kappa with a degree in Child Development May 19, 2010. I hold a Master?s teacher credential for preschool. Over the years I have logged in hundreds of professional growth hours pertaining to child care. I am also a mentor and support leader for other Child Care professionals locally, State wide and nationally. I teach workshops at colleges and conferences.
In 2005 I was awarded provider of the year in Sacramento County. Please see the article on this special event.:
